Fast forward to 2017, John’s son Justin joined the company full-time after getting his BBA in business management and supply chain management.
Passed down and operated to the family’s 3rd generation today, we continue to grow as the business is one of Alberta’s most prominent one-stop metal distributors.
Brooks Industrial Metals Ltd originated in 1966 by Joe Duenk. Being of Dutch descent, Joe began as the one single employee in his small radiator repair business. He also kept a steel scrap pile where he would buy and sell scrap metals within the community of Brooks.
In 1996, John Duenk assumed the presidency of Brooks Industrial Metals Ltd., his father’s company. His tenure kicked off with a successful overhaul of the company’s offices and shops in 1997/1998. This was just the start, with subsequent expansions and acquisitions including buildings, equipment, and cranes, transforming the company into a major steel service center in southeastern Alberta.
In 2017, John’s son Justin joined the company full-time after getting his BBA in business management and supply chain management. Justin has spent the last few years learning the operations of the company, and now works alongside John and others at BIM to ensure smooth operations and management of the company
